Nebraska judge redefines marriage

Today, 3/2/15, U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon has redefined marriage for the state
ref. In 2005 Bataillon tried to overturn this marriage amendment, but had his ruling overturned in 2008 by the 8th circuit
ref. The 8th circuit is currently hearing cases for the states of Missouri, South Dakota, Arkansas with oral arguments scheduled for May 12, 2015.
Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson has filed an appeal with the 8th circuit.
Update 3/6/15: The 8th Circuit has
granted the Attorney General's request for an emergency stay. The case has been merged with three other same sex marriage cases and oral arguments are scheduled for 5/12/15 before the 8th circuit.
