Israel achieves complete control over the the Philadelphi Corridor
Posted: 6/7/24
On Friday 6/7/24 Israel achieved
complete control over the the Philadelphi Corridor. Israel discovers
over 20 tunnels located on the border with Egypt that Egypt denied existed. Is is believed that quite possibly the
last weapons factory in Gaza has been destroyed on 6/6/24. It is believed that many if not most of Hamas soldiers and
Yahya Sinwar have already
fled back into Khan Younis. This will be addressed later, but for now it is vitally important for the IDF to achieve control of Rafah and the Philadelphi Corridor which is the last major stronghold of Hamas and the main route for Hamas to have weapons smuggled in to Gaza from Egypt.
Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli at the annual
Jerusalem Post Annual Conference in New York that took place on 6/3/24 said that the war may take at least
another 2 years before Hamas is effectively dismantled.
Some questions that remain unanswered are
how many Hamas fighters remain and how many more have been recruited during this war. It has also been a while since any accurate numbers have been published regarding how many Hamas fighters have been killed since 10/7/23 when the war started. Two other big questions are how (and whether) Gaza will be rebuilt differently than before so that a group like Hamas is not rebuilt again. Also how can the IDF effectively and quickly bring this war to an end, because this cannot also become a protracted war of attrition with no end in sight. That would deplete Israel's resources and also lead to a win by Hamas.
