A moderator at Opera says Opera's apparent decision to radically alter their browser from its ability to customize the browser in countless ways into a minimalistic one stems from the inability to get major websites like facebook and gmail to test their sites against Opera and so Opera has abandoned their work on their presto engine and has instead incorporated the Chrome engine into their browser. Whether Opera returns to where it once was remains to be seen, but currently the browser is experiencing some hard times.
