Installed new monitor yesterday.  Also fixed computer.  I need to elaborate more later, especially on the monitor.  For now, I'll just say the new monitor is amazing!  I need to chart my first impressions.

Well, let's begin anyway .

• The monitor is big.  The need for a Vesa mount very quickly becomes apparent.
  
• The monitor works great even with a sub-optimal computer or even with an Nvidia setup (the monitor is optimized for AMD as opposed to Nvidia), but the benefits of a good desktop become apparent too when you play a good game without painful stuttering.
  
• The size, field of view, and dpi feel perfect and optimal.  I am hard pressed to see how a better monitor would have any different specs.  This also includes the price.
  
• When going from two 1920 x 1080 monitors to one 3840 x 1600 monitor I had to change the OS font size from 100% to 150%.
  
• Working with spreadsheets and other content management is really nice.  It is like the difference between working with a small desk to one with much more space to spread out your papers.
  
• Optimized games are much more immersive.
  
• Websites, like games, are designed very differently and some are optimized and truly shine with this monitor whereas others will appear lackluster.

Conclusion:

It has been maybe 24 hours that I have had this monitor and so far I am quite happy with the purchase.  A lot of thought and research over the last few years led to this choice and barring hardware failure, I have a hard time seeing myself even desiring a different monitor in the future.  For me, this monitor is like a future proof monitor.

I have a new PC arriving in a few days and I am looking forward to seeing how it improves the performance of the monitor.
