The calendar script has pretty much been revised and rewritten at this point. The code has been appropriately commented so as to be easy to understand if I have to look at it again a few years from now. The css has been revised to remove the rest of the annoying lingering extra space around certain days of the month. The bug was only present when making changes to the calendar.
This is a pretty good stopping point for the calendar.
