One issue with Windows Media Player 12 tricks is that registry edits don't always stick. Apparently using Tweaking.com - Windows Repair and resetting the registry permissions will fix this issue. ref
To test this I will need to find something to cause the registry edits to revert and see if using Tweaking.com - Windows Repair does the trick.
