Methodism was started by John Wesley in 1739 and came out of the Anglican church. It is an Arminian religion.
Problem areas:
- Holiness movement
- Do not believe in predestination.
- against the death penalty.
- gambling is wrong.
- Women can be ministers in the church.
- Alcohol consumption seems to be synonymous with sin. (I still can't find very concrete info on this)
- Belief in man's cooperation with God for salvation.
Numerous denominations have arisen from this denomination.
Catholic Encyclopedia reference.
