I started looking at the search program a little more critically and discovered that there is still some unfinished business:
- For one it could use some notation.
- I will try to incorporate some Ajax Pagination to the program to limit load times for queries with an especially large number of results. Big project.
- I want to take a closer look at the loops in the second half of the script. I suspect that they could be simplified and in a program like this any opportunity to simplify should taken. If not then the script rapidly becomes overly complicated to update/upgrade/fix. do first.
- I am thinking of adding a cookie that will remember the tables last selected for a query.
Other possible site projects:
- The number of results in the news archives should be incorporated into the config page somehow.
- The dates for the news items should be linked so as to be able to view them individually like these memo blogs are.
Addendum: Almost forgot. I removed approx. 4 lines of junk code from the search program that had to do with renaming table names. The code was no longer working and was not designed to work with other sites, so the omission is a good thing. Removing a few lines of junk code does not normally rate a change to the search version number, but I wanted to list it for historical reasons.
