I updated the text formatting script I use to replace "
-" with "
–". I am not going to update the site version for this even though it was a bit tricky to work out, because it is not a bug fix and not a new feature; just a preference. I used
$text=preg_replace('/>.*?</e',"str_replace('-','–','$0')",$text);
In short, it replaces "
-" with "
–" unless it is part of a scipt, javascript, link, CSS, or img src.
In case you are wondering how I am able to write out "
-" at all, it is because I use the HTML code for "
-" which is "
-".
