well, that was a bit hard to fix. I fixed the compatibility issue with IE and another issue with Firefox. The issue with IE had to do with setting the height of the div with
height:192px
Now I can create and edit banners with greater ease and they look and operate the way I want. The banner is centered. It stays aligned with the middle column. It is not clickable except in Firefox and that is fine. It can extend off the screen, but not break the width of the page. The height and width stay the same despite the dimensions of the image. It also fits the dimensions of more screen resolution sizes.
It can be improved upon slightly I think, but this is really quite good enough for now.
